Residential policies can be ordered through The Conveyancer® (for Ontario law firms), and/or our STEPS application. Either choice allows access to Stewart Title’s technical support and comes with a training demonstration.
Stewart Title Electronic Policy System (STEPS)
Designed to automate and simplify the process of ordering title insurance, STEPS is a web-based application that guides users through data entry and document selection. This means less processing time and errors.
STEPS automates a number of important processes to reduce the amount of time legal professionals need to spend ordering a title insurance policy. This free web-based application provides a quick turnaround time for title insurance policies. It automatically:
- generates and assigns policy numbers;
- allows the transactions to be underwritten electronically by Stewart Title;
- enables lawyers and their staff to print draft policies;
- calculates the premium;
- enables lawyers and their staff to pay for policies via credit card or preauthorized debit; and
- distributes Stewart Title communications.
STEPS integrated with The Conveyancer® for Ontario Law Firms
STEPS is also integrated with The Conveyancer® real estate document production program. This integrated package means lawyers can produce all the documentation necessary to close a real estate transaction and request a title insurance policy from Stewart Title -- electronically through one application.
Upon receipt of payment, lawyers can receive their final policies from Stewart Title electronically, and can simply print them from The Conveyancer®. Our customers who do not have high speed internet access, do have the option to use LOFTI and The Conveyancer® as a stand-alone system.
