Changes to Agent Agreement for BC Lawyers
We are aware of the recent notice from the Law Society of British Columbia (“LSBC”) regarding updates to the wording to our Agent Agreement for BC lawyers.*
Stewart Title has implemented these changes in collaboration with LSBC to ensure full alignment with their guidance.
If you would like to sign the updated Agent Agreement, please contact your Business Development Manager. They will walk you through the process and provide the updated agreement via DocuSign for your convenience.

*As a reminder, the Agent Agreement relates to the FINTRAC regulations now in effect for all title insurers which require, before issuing an owner policy of title insurance, that the identity of the purchasers be verified. Stewart has provided several options for this identity verification requirement to be met, including methods that require the lawyer to be an agent and a method that does not require being an agent. You would have encountered these options already if you ordered an owner policy as of Oct 1st.
